Step House is a proposal for a new house on the edge of the city. The scheme makes the most of the steep topography to step down the hill, respecting the scale neighbouring houses from the street whilst opening up to the rear to provide views across the surrounding greenbelt countryside. The materials and form are sensitive to the neighbourhood whilst also introducing a new contemporary language.
We’ve used physical and digital models throughout the design process to refine the overall massing and explore how the building sits within the streetscape. The design includes a glazed link to frame the views of the countryside and allow more natural light into the dwelling.
We are pleased to announce this project on the edge of the city has now received planning permission!
