For this project, we were asked to produce a feasibility study for South Yorkshire Housing Association which would explore the capacity for new housing on a tricky crossroad site.  We were keen to retain the local amenities of the existing site to ensure it was sustainable for the existing local community and hoped to maximise the amount of housing with a mixture of dwelling sizes. The development of this site has great potential to add to the urban street scape. All schemes seek to create homes in different sized blocks with mixed one storey and two storey units Each of the schemes we presented took a different approach, accepting the desire to keep the scheme relatively low rise.

All schemes also sought to create decent usable space around and between the buildings. The tight nature of the site makes it difficult for the landscape to not be dominated by cars. Thinking more creatively about the relationship between house and car does make space for the introduction of softer landscape.
