This project explored potential upgrades to the thermal envelope of a 1970’s home in Sheffield.

This recent feasibility exercise began with an interrogation of the existing fabric. As is typical of this period, the construction methods used are efficient and simple, but provide very poor thermal performance.

The retrofit strategy aims to improve this performance without compromising the internal space or the external character of the house. The investigation also explored how the possibility of alternate low carbon energy sources.
