Stripping back layers

The new ‘grand stair’ in the previous post complements the existing main stair at Petronella House. As part of its refurbishment, the original cast iron balusters have been numbered, removed and stripped of layers of built up paint, revealing the texture and intricate detail of the casting. They will be reinstated and finished using a clear wax to protect and maintain the appearance.
