Claire Kemp -RIBA East Midlands ‘Project Architect of the Year 2022”

This week we are celebrating our valued team member Claire Kemp.  Claire has worked at CE+CA since 2016 and is an absolute asset to our team.  Claire’s practice experience lies in the transformation of existing homes to accommodate modern family living.

Claire has recently been awarded RIBA East Midlands ‘Project Architect of the Year 2022’ for Ravine House.  Ravine House was longlisted for RIBA’s House of the Year and featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.  Ravine House also won the RIBA East Midlands Award 2022 along with the RIBA East Midlands Sustainability Award 2022, all of which wouldn’t have been possible without Claire.

Claire worked for 3 years on the Ravine House project alongside our Director Howard.  Her skill and determined research delivered a project that is meticulous in both its approach to conservation but also in developing a model for the material upgrade of a mid century home.  Claire was excellent in guiding the clients, helping them understand how special their home was and could be.  She held together a complex team on site, using her broad range of knowledge from technical information on how to take a building almost ‘off grid’ to the specifics of sourcing material that was contemporaneous or in keeping with the original building.  Claire’s engagement with pursuing a low carbon agenda on this project has changed the way that we practice.  Most importantly Claire delivered a home that the clients are delighted with every day.
